The history starts with nomadic cattle herders inhabited the land and used the area to live and herd in around 3000 BC.E. The first agriculture that started was the Date Palm in 2500 BCE . Archaeologist found evidence of caravan outpost that shows this place as an important trading destination.
In 1800 Umayyads introduced Islam in the area and was the start of Muslim dynasty.The major business was fishing and pearls and they opened up the most important trade routes through sea from Indian Pakistan to far off land as China. This was the first mile stone of Dubai being established.
In 1833 the Al Makhtoum dynasty of the Bani Yas tribe left settlement of Abu Dhabi and took over Dubai from Abu Falasa Clan by Makhtoum bin Butti (al-Makhtoum dynasty)
In 1841 town was devastated by small pox that forced many to settle in Deira and then in 1894 there was fire breakout that burnt down most of the homes.
The strategical location of Dubai enabled to rebuild the city and Sheikh Makhtoum signed a deal with the British in 1892 making Dubai a British Protectorate and in 1894 granted full tax exemption to all foreign traders.
Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum bin Hasher Al Maktoum became ruler in 1912 and is regarded as the father of Dubai. The city flourished with pearl and fishing as major business in the area until the Great Depression in 1930 due to World war and invention of artificial pearls.
1945-1948 there was a dispute between Dubai and Abu Dhabi and with British arbitration and a compromise was reached in 1979.
In 1958 Sheikh Rasheed bin Saeed Al Makhtoum became ruler and he was the man behing the expansion of Dubai.
The formation of Dubai creek started in 1963 and work started on upgrading creek for larger ships that resulted in gold export market.
The major turning point in Dubai history was the discovery of oil in 1966 and joining the new county Qatar. They created the new currency Riyal after de-evaluating the Persian gulf Rupee.
In 1968 Dubai started exporting crude oil .
In 1971 British left Persian Gulf that resulted in coalition of other Emirates to join together Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Fujairah and (in 1972) Ras Al Khaimah, joined to create the United Arab Emirates and introudced Dirham as the new currency of UAE. It was agreed upon that Dubai and Abu Dhabi will have the major control over the country and will have veto power to decide upon matters of national significance.
In 1985 Emirate Airline was launched and was a step forward to make it a tourist destination.
In 1990 Sheikh Makhtoum bin Rashid Al Makhtoum takes over as the ruler of Dubai.
In 2003 UAE played a major role with the western world during war in Iraq by providing them refuelling base in the Jebel Ali free Zone which further led to clusters of new free zones ie Dubai Internet City ,Dubai Media City and Dubai Maritime City
Dubai came with some of the world famous architecture Bur Al Arab-Worlds Tallest Hotel, three artificial islands in the shape of palm (Palm Islands) and The World Islands consist of 300 islands in the shape of world map.Burj Khalifa one of the tallest man made structure.
Dubai economy saw many changes in the economy and the best part is they always make a comeback aggressively and the most important decision was there rule to make business tax free and free hold property for expats in 2002 in selected area of city which resulted growth in real estate and tourism.
